About Stonewasp
A software systems engineering firm. We partner with founders, CTOs, and growing companies to architect, build, and stabilize mission-critical software systems.
Why We Exist
The software consulting industry is largely divided into two broken extremes: massive IT consultancies that move slowly with high management overhead, or staffing marketplaces that supply developer hours without architectural ownership.
Companies building serious software need a third option: an independent engineering studio that takes end-to-end technical responsibility, communicates with written clarity, and ships production software with speed and precision.
We do not sell "developers for hire" or billable hours. We take ownership of difficult software initiatives from technical discovery to production release.
Engineering Philosophy
How we think about building software systems that last.
Software is infrastructure, not cost
Every system you build is infrastructure for your business. Treat it with the same rigor you'd apply to a factory floor — because your revenue flows through it.
Simplicity is a feature, not a compromise
Complexity is not a badge of honor. The systems that last are the ones that are simple enough to be understood, maintained, and improved by the people who inherit them.
Write it down, or it didn't happen
Architecture decisions, trade-offs, constraints — if it's not written down, it's tribal knowledge that evaporates when your best engineer leaves.
Speed comes from clarity, not shortcuts
Teams that move fast are not cutting corners. They have clear boundaries, automated safety nets, and a shared understanding of how things work.
Engineering Principles
These principles govern our architectural decisions, code quality gates, and client collaborations.
Own Outcomes, Not Tickets
We take complete technical responsibility for shipping software systems that solve real business problems. No billable hours, no ticket queues.
Prefer Simple Systems
We favor established primitives (PostgreSQL, SQLite, TypeScript, edge runtimes) over fragile complexity. The easiest code to maintain is the code you never write.
Make Decisions Explicit in Writing
Every architectural choice, schema trade-off, and security boundary is documented in a concise RFC before implementation begins.
Automate Quality at the Gate
Linters, typecheckers, integration tests, and preview environments execute automatically on every pull request.
Keep Humans Strictly Accountable
No code, database migration, or architectural decision reaches production without human review and verification.
Engineering Leadership
Arunkumar
Founder & Lead Systems Engineer
Arunkumar is a systems engineer focused on architecting, building, and operating production web applications, edge compute runtimes, and transactional backend systems.
His focus is on pragmatic systems engineering: simple primitives, automated test safety nets, edge compute runtimes, relational database modeling, and high-velocity async execution.
Every Stonewasp engagement is directly designed, built, and reviewed by our core engineering team—with no hand-offs to external contractor pools.
Send us the engineering problem.
Whether you have a new product to build, an existing system to stabilize, or an architecture decision to make, we are ready to help.
